Scitex LFOV Lens Test Preview

After 6 days in Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles for an unfortunate medical issue I’m back at 100% and feeling great, but now I’m really behind on my lens projects. I have been able to post a preview of the latest project, the Scitex LFOV lens, follow this link to check it out:

https://www.closeuphotography.com/scitex-lfov-lens

The page is only a preview but I will be updating this page with test results as soon as I can.

Any experience or information you have to share on the LFOV, be sure to send me a message!

Best,

Robert

Can't Believe the Lens Made it Okay

This morning Fedex dropped off a box but I was a little surprised. The package looked like something out of the garbage bin. Was it a joke?

This was a shipment of a Scanner-Nikkor ED lens from an eBay seller. All 4 corners were torn open but thankfully the lens was still inside, tucked into a roll of bubble wrap and a-okay.

I don’t fault Fedex at all for the damage to the box. The shipper used a 0.5mm thick (measured) re-used carton and that was the issue. At least the guy used bubble wrap around the lens!

For the record, the shipper, https://www.ebay.com/usr/nikon_coolscan replied to a message about the damage, “evert tenth package is really trashed have no control of that.”

Mitutoyo QV Quick Vision Measuring Machine Teardown

After 2 years of sitting in my garage gathering dust, my QV scope finally made it into my office to begin the teardown process. The original owner had lost the software keys to use the scope so it was sold for parts only and that means I would not be able to use in the factory configuration. This is the most complex scope I’ve ever handled so the goal of the teardown is to see what parts I can use for photomacrography. The scope has a total of 6 fiber optic lights and all movements are powered, XYZ, even the objective zoom and ring light are all powered. It’s a massive unit and surprisingly heavy.

Let me know if you are interested in anything from the scope, the objective has already been sold to offset the cost of the scope.

Any questions or comments, send me an email.
